Farwell Lumberjack Festival (Performances on July 29-30, 2006)
The Christian Cowboys L.L.C. rode into downtown Farwell for the Lumberjack Festival Friday afternoon. While the temperatures soared into the 90's, several of our members turned out to help put up the town in preparation for Saturday and Sunday's performances. Much thanks and appreciation goes to those cowboys who were able to help with the "town raising".
Saturday started off with several notable performances and a few comedic mishaps. One of the more notable performances was by Chris Geyer, stepping in for Matt Brown who suddenly fell ill (I'm sure it had nothing to due with Ole Crusty's cookin'). Lynda Brown and Becky Rowell also gave very notable performances in one of our newest skits "Hat Fight". As a matter of fact, all of the cowboys put on excellent performances, despite the high temperatures.
On the comedic side of things, we have Chip Frick. Chip, while known for some of his comedic characters, is also known for using all six shots in his gun to kill one bad guy when only one shot is needed. Chip decided to help save some of the Cowboy's ammo by killing one of the bad guys simply by saying, "Bang, Bang!" while pointing his gun at the bad guy. Thanks for helping us out there Chip!
Sunday started out not quite as warm as Saturday and with ominous skies overhead. Performances were rained out after only an hour. Matt Brown returned feeling much better and wished the rest of the cowboys luck as we all had some good fellowship under the awning of the Brown's Covered Wagon (aka Motorhome). Shortly before 3 pm. the rains tapered off and the Cowboys held an impromptu practice session. During the practice session, several spectators arrived and the practice quickly turned into a full fledged performance. Several new things were added to some of the existing skits which had several audience members rolling with laughter.
Once again, several of our cowboys put in some extra effort and stayed to help pack up the town and load it on the trailer in preparation for our next set of performances (be sure to check out the calendar page). Our thanks and appreciation goes out to each and every one of them.
